Summit Keys

Nephi · Juab County · Relocation Guide

Moving to Nephi, Utah — the part nobody puts in the listing.

The home is the easy part. The harder part is the week after you close — utilities in your name, kids enrolled, commute tested, and a sense of which corner of town actually fits your family. This is the guide I wish more newcomers had on day one.

Every relocating family I work with arrives with the same look on their face on closing day — a mix of relief and quiet panic. The offer got accepted, the loan funded, the keys are in their hand, and now there is an actual house in Nephi to fill with their lives. The home tour is over. The relocation has barely begun.

What follows is the running list I find myself sending new arrivals in the first week — utility connections, school boundaries, neighborhood character, and the small logistics nobody mentions on a listing. Treat it as a checklist, not a sales brochure. The point is to make the first month here feel less like a scramble.

Utility connections

Who to call, and roughly in what order.

Most of Nephi's core services are run by the city itself, which keeps things simple — one stop at the city offices on East 100 North handles power, water, sewer, and trash. Gas and internet are the two outside accounts. Set up internet the moment you know your closing date; provisioning is the slowest piece of the puzzle, every time.

Power

Nephi City Power runs the municipal electric system inside city limits. Call to schedule connection in your name a few days before closing; deposits vary by credit history.

Water & sewer

Nephi City Public Works handles culinary water, sewer, and pressurized secondary irrigation in most of town. Outside city limits, you may be on a well and septic — confirm during inspections.

Natural gas

Dominion Energy serves most homes inside Nephi. Older rural properties sometimes still use propane tanks instead — check the property listing or ask the seller.

Garbage & recycling

Curbside pickup is handled through Nephi City. Recycling is opt-in in most neighborhoods. Junction Landfill is just south of town for larger drop-offs.

Internet

Fiber from UTOPIA is available in much of Nephi through providers like Sumo, XMission, and others. CentraCom DSL, Starlink, and fixed wireless are the fallbacks outside the fiber footprint. Always test speeds at the actual address.

School boundaries

One district, a handful of schools, and a boundary map worth checking.

All of Nephi sits inside the Juab School District, which simplifies the conversation considerably — there is no cross-district shopping the way families do further north. The two main elementary schools in town are Nebo View and Red Cliffs; from there, kids feed into Juab Junior High and Juab High School. Outlying towns like Mona, Levan, and Rocky Ridge also fall inside the district, with their own elementary schools.

Boundary lines shift every few years as new subdivisions fill in. The street that fed one elementary in 2020 may have flipped since then. Before you go firm on a house because of a specific school, call the district office and confirm the current boundary for that exact address — and ask whether any boundary review is in motion. It takes ten minutes and it has saved more than one relocation from a rough first week.

Online registration runs through the district's Skyward portal. You will need proof of residency (a closing statement or utility bill works), immunization records, and a birth certificate. Get the file together before the move and the actual enrollment takes one sitting.

Neighborhood profiles

Four corners of town, four different lives.

Nephi is small enough that you can drive across it in fifteen minutes, but the neighborhoods do not feel the same. Here is the honest read on the four parts of town that come up most often with relocating families.

Old Town Nephi

SnapshotStreets around Main, 100 North, and the historic core. Mature trees, big lots, and brick homes from the 1900s–1960s.

Who it fitsBuyers who want character, walkability to downtown, and a project they can grow into. Expect older systems and updated kitchens here and there.

Northwest Nephi (toward I-15)

SnapshotNewer subdivisions and starter homes off SR-132 and 1300 North. Quick freeway access for north commuters.

Who it fitsFamilies needing a daily commute toward Santaquin, Spanish Fork, or Provo without trading away a yard.

South Nephi & the bench

SnapshotLarger lots climbing toward the foothills. Mountain views, more horse property, occasional well-and-septic.

Who it fitsBuyers who want space, animals, or quiet — and don't mind a few extra minutes back to schools and groceries.

Surrounding county (Mona, Levan, Rocky Ridge)

SnapshotOutside city limits but inside the Juab School District boundary. Rural acreage, septic, propane, and a different commute math.

Who it fitsBuyers willing to trade convenience for land. Worth comparing against the in-town options before you commit.

For a deeper county-level read, the Nephi vs. Mona vs. Levan comparison covers the price-and-character tradeoffs across the whole Juab County footprint.

The first week

What I tell every relocating family to knock out in the first seven days.

Once the boxes are inside, the to-do list quietly takes over. None of these are dramatic. All of them are the kind of small thing that, undone, eats a Saturday three weeks from now.

  • 01Update your address with USPS, your employer, and your bank.
  • 02Transfer or open utility accounts in your name (power, water, gas, internet, trash).
  • 03Register your vehicles at the Juab County DMV office on Main Street and update your driver's license.
  • 04Enroll the kids — Juab School District uses online registration through their Skyward portal.
  • 05Set up a primary care provider at Central Valley Medical Center or transfer pediatric records.
  • 06Walk into the Nephi Public Library and grab a card — it's free and the kids' programs run year-round.
  • 07Drive your real commute at the real time of day. Test it before you settle into a routine.

If the list feels long, that's normal. The reward is that by the second or third week you stop thinking about it at all — the routines settle in, the kids find their classroom, the commute becomes a known quantity, and Nephi starts to feel like home rather than a transaction.
